Very lovely place for our two days of quarantine after arriving in Sri Lanka. Before our arrival the staff was very helpful with organising everything to get our Visas approved (pcr, insurance etc.). The rooms and garden are beautiful and it was a pleasure to pass our days on the premesis.

We booked this villa with no reviews and were slightly skeptical as to whether or not this place was going to offer what it promised. Upon arrival, we were absolutely blown away by the beautiful architecture and furniture that filled this modern and seamless villa. We were greeted by the friendly staff with smoothies and a refreshing cold flannel, whereupon they set up our room and informed us of our lovely upgrade to the master suite. Due to the recent opening of the villa, word hadn’t quite got out about this place and we were incredibly lucky to have the place to ourselves for three nights. It was a beautiful and serene place to spend our holiday, waited on hand and foot, trips and taxis organised for us, and some of the most delicious seafood we had ever had. Breakfast was included and lunch and dinner cost approx £7 each plate. We bought our own spirits as they were unable to provide these but they made these up for us whenever we wanted. Cheap beer, wine, soft drinks, coffee and tea were all available for purchase. The rooms were spacious and cleaned twice daily. The beds were extremely comfy + they had mosquito nets. The views are breathtaking and it only takes 30 seconds to walk to the beautiful and (barely) untouched beach. There isn’t much else around within walking distance, (which we loved) so taxis are really the only way to get around. I would like to emphasise how attentive, professional and friendly the staff were, nothing was too much trouble and they really did go above and beyond what we would expect from staff. We shall be coming back next year with a party of 12, so we can have the villa again to ourselves! Thanks, James & Ruby

Great location, 1 minute walk from the beach. It is at the quieter end of the beach so you get a good night’s sleep. Staff could not be friendlier or more accommodating. Room was spotless and comfortable. Happy to recommend and happy to stay again. All excursions booked through hotel were slightly cheaper than outside prices and service matched the standard of the hotel.

The location is amazing, by the most beautiful, endless beaches and wonderful lagoon. The pool is peaceful and there's plenty of space to chill. The restaurant offered good choice and fair value given that there were few outside options. Peaceful location within a 10 min tuk tuk ride from tangalle.

The Villa is about 10 minute walk to the beach but completely away from the hustle and bustle of Hikkadua. It is an oasis of tranquility. Accommodation is excellent. The pool area superb. Breakfast was excellent and the staff were so polite and helpful .

We were blown away on our family holiday here for 11 days over Christmas. Fernando and his staff could not do enough for us, their cooking was incredible and the property is stunning and clean. Beautiful Bentota beach is less than 10 min walk over the bridge. And Suranga (who is half way across the bridge on the floating pavilion) would pick us up from our jetty in his boat any time and take us to restaurants (Pier 88 was great), jet skiing and river safari. Highly recommended for a group stay!!

I could write a few pages about Villa Modara. The hosts and employee are simply lovely, generous, friendly, interesting and welcoming. The location was perfect; close to a bird sanctuary that I didn’t visited as there was plenty of birds and wildlife around the property (sunrise and sunset was overwhelming with bird singing and seeing). Also close to a secluded beach with very few tourists if none. The guesthouse it self is so beautiful; architecture and decor. Paradisio!

Breakfast was good, location was perfect, lovely room with comfortable bed and wet room, (we stayed in a villa, V6). Stunning beach 2 mins walk from villa and nice pool and bar area. Wildlife everywhere, squirrels, birds, monitor lizards. Bars close by and more 5 mins by tuk tuk on Medatakiya beach.
