We booked this villa with no reviews and were slightly skeptical as to whether or not this place was going to offer what it promised. Upon arrival, we were absolutely blown away by the beautiful architecture and furniture that filled this modern and seamless villa. We were greeted by the friendly staff with smoothies and a refreshing cold flannel, whereupon they set up our room and informed us of our lovely upgrade to the master suite. Due to the recent opening of the villa, word hadn’t quite got out about this place and we were incredibly lucky to have the place to ourselves for three nights. It was a beautiful and serene place to spend our holiday, waited on hand and foot, trips and taxis organised for us, and some of the most delicious seafood we had ever had. Breakfast was included and lunch and dinner cost approx £7 each plate. We bought our own spirits as they were unable to provide these but they made these up for us whenever we wanted. Cheap beer, wine, soft drinks, coffee and tea were all available for purchase. The rooms were spacious and cleaned twice daily. The beds were extremely comfy + they had mosquito nets. The views are breathtaking and it only takes 30 seconds to walk to the beautiful and (barely) untouched beach. There isn’t much else around within walking distance, (which we loved) so taxis are really the only way to get around. I would like to emphasise how attentive, professional and friendly the staff were, nothing was too much trouble and they really did go above and beyond what we would expect from staff. We shall be coming back next year with a party of 12, so we can have the villa again to ourselves! Thanks, James & Ruby

Brand new Boutique Hotel, only 16 rooms, very quiet, perfect for families with kids, rooms with bathtub are very spaceious, enormous friendly staff - (thx Silva! - our waiter), absolutely great food - very motivated young chef who obviously cooked for an international Hotel before - quality kitchen is part of our holidays always ;-) real tasty local dishes - breakfast could be a little more creative though - restaurant prices are much higher than local places in the neighborhood but worth it!!) - lovely palm tree garden and pool (great also for kids! - our daughter 4J spent hours every day in there ;-), wonderful and empty palm tree beach but quite rough sea in the afternoon - dangerous for kids! little simple wooden hut beach restaurant/bar 300m nearby... - all in all very layback and realaxing, just fantastic and I have to admit that I am a quite critical traveler who always seeks for best quality/price... you have it ALL there!

Very lovely place for our two days of quarantine after arriving in Sri Lanka. Before our arrival the staff was very helpful with organising everything to get our Visas approved (pcr, insurance etc.). The rooms and garden are beautiful and it was a pleasure to pass our days on the premesis.

Everything. Food was delicious and well priced. Villas were amazing. Couldn’t fault them. Spacious, cool, and clean. The beds were comfy and so was the bench couch. They had movie night every night on the open terrace rooftop if you wanted to sit and watch with a cocktail, or even food! Right on the beach and with the minimal number of villas, 5 I think it was, it was peaceful and relaxing, with not too much noise. Tania and her staff are lovely and very attentive. Happy to organise anything to make your stay as relaxing and carefree as possible. Definitely recommend to anyone going or if we should go back again!

We discovered this hotel a bit by chance and it was a real masterpiece for us. Stay 20 nights in the same hotel, be sure not to be wrong ... And it was just PERFECT !!! The team is great, available, smiling, considerate. The rooms are clean, regularly maintained and silence is present. The hotel is located 300m from the main road, which allows you to be close to everything, but at the same time, away from noise ... The pool is great and we could enjoy our vacation! We are seriously considering going back in December for several more weeks ... Go there with your eyes closed !!!

Everything is perfect here: location, staff, food, pool, nature and everything else. Dusg will certainly help with any of your questions, and he also prepares excellent breakfasts. Everything was perfect. The house is beautiful and clean, the beds are confy and the kitchen quite well equipped. The lady is very nice, even did our laundry 🤗. Thanks again. Silent beach is 100m, beautiful beach, but there were big waves and the children could not go inside the water all alone. We preferred Tuk- tuk bay, which is also close - 10 min walking distance- which is calm and shallow. Did some snorkelling, even saw turtles. Really beautiful place, would have stayed longer.

Excellent accommodation - one of the nicest places we stayed in Sri Lanka. We were in one of the newer apartments which was nicely finished. Good kitchen with everything you'd need. Stunning pool which was very clean and lovely for a dip in the middle of the day when it was hot. Walking distance to the beach and there are some lovely restaurants around the corner. Sumi couldn't have been more helpful with local information and making sure we had everything we needed. Great air conditioning in the room and comfortable bed. Lovely balcony to sit out on and beautifully kept gardens.

The hotel is located in Tangalle area, the ocean is beautiful with amazing sunsets and long walks. The room was very clean and nice. The lagoon nearby is great for observing wild life of Sri Lanka. The staff was very helpful, providing us transfer, meal services. The hotel has got yoga terrace, which is available throughout the day for practice and free yoga lessons in the morning.

I could write a few pages about Villa Modara. The hosts and employee are simply lovely, generous, friendly, interesting and welcoming. The location was perfect; close to a bird sanctuary that I didn’t visited as there was plenty of birds and wildlife around the property (sunrise and sunset was overwhelming with bird singing and seeing). Also close to a secluded beach with very few tourists if none. The guesthouse it self is so beautiful; architecture and decor. Paradisio!

We had an amazing time, I think this was my favourite hotel for our entire stay in Sri Lanka. The location is perfect, right near a mostly empty beach with waves that any surfer would crave. The building itself is elegantly decorated with tasteful artwork and some unique furniture pieces. The pool looking ofer the beach and the lush orchid backyard made it a fantastic way to relax and enjoy our time. Room was clean and the bed was wide and comfortable. I just loved the relaxed vibe of the place. The beach restaurant across the street which shares the same owner was a treat for us as well.

We were blown away on our family holiday here for 11 days over Christmas. Fernando and his staff could not do enough for us, their cooking was incredible and the property is stunning and clean. Beautiful Bentota beach is less than 10 min walk over the bridge. And Suranga (who is half way across the bridge on the floating pavilion) would pick us up from our jetty in his boat any time and take us to restaurants (Pier 88 was great), jet skiing and river safari. Highly recommended for a group stay!!

This is the most tranquil, relaxing and stylish place we saw in Sri Lanka. The private pool is to die for and the staff are wonderful - they kept the rooms spotless and were happy to help with any requests! The wildlife here is incredible and we saw peacocks, a mongoose (on the way to the property) and monkeys in the local area - though not in the villas for any nervous travellers!

This is honestly such a fantastic place. You have the benefit of walking to the sea within 10 minutes or simply making use of the swimming pool on your doorstep which is kept exceptionally clean. The gardens of Kurumba are beautiful, attracting lots of wildlife to create a serene setting. The beds were very comfy and the accomodation is very spacious with all you’d need. The breakfasts were delicious too. Above all the staff were so attentive and friendly, always willing to go that little bit further to ensure you have everything you need. The restaurant offered good choice and fair value given that there were few outside options. Peaceful location within a 10 min tuk tuk ride from tangalle.

Wildlife everywhere, squirrels, birds, monitor lizards. Bars close by and more 5 mins by tuk tuk on Medatakiya beach.

Everything was perfect. Room was big enough and very clean! Room cleaning was daily, thanks for that! The breakfast was good too! Very nice and helpful owner of the villa and his staff! We were with a child and we had a very late flight and the owner allowed us to use the room longer, because of this we had a great long day at the beautiful beach and the opportunity to wash ourselves before a long flight. If I go to Sri-Lanka again, I would definitely stay at this villa.
