I can hardly imagine a better place to stay when visiting fantastic Universal Studios. It's a short walk to the theme park, so you can avoid driving to the parking lot and save $25-30. The hotel provides free, private parking spot which in LA is not only convenience, but almost a basic human right. I used to stay in much more expensive hotels in LA which still expected me to shell extra 10-30 bucks for parking, so huge props to El Royale for doing it right. The building and courtyard were very pleasant and my room was cozy, quiet and just great in all important aspects. Proper (ie. not "continental") breakfast in a low key setting was a nice and welcome surprise. All this would be enough to rate El Royale 10/10, but on top of that they also have the most helpful, most accommodating and the nicest staff ever.

Staff was super friendly and helpful. Large underground parking was a huge bonus. We were driving a 21ft class B RV van and was worried about maneuvering in and around small tight lot. We were so relieved when we entered the parking deck!
